Tours

Bodrum
Situated just 10 miles from Yalikavak ( the local dolmus or minibus travels between the two towns and costs just 80p!), Bodrum is steeped in culture and history dating back to 400BC. St. Peter’s castle, built by the crusaders, guards the harbour and houses the museum of underwater archaeology, rich in finds from the ancient shipwrecks of the Aegean sea. Also worth visiting are the Mausoleum, the old dockyard and arsenal point, Myndas Gate and Bodrum Haman or Turkish bath which has been refreshing people for over 500 years (you’ll see a bus with “Haman” on the front which will stop and take you to the bath if you stick out your hand). The old covered market down by the marina is open every day between April and October. You can catch a ferry to Kos in Greece from here daily.

Ephesus
About an hour north of the Bodrum peninsula lies Ephesus, the largest classical archeological site in the world, and home to the temple of the Diena Artemis, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. The library of Celsus, Roman villas and the 25,000 seat great theatre are all on site.
The excursion, including lunch, entrance fees, transport and a guide costs about £17

Pamukkale
Visit the stunning “Cotton castle” formed by water rich in calcium flowing from thermal springs which create a sight unique in nature. Bathe in Cleopatra’s pool, strewn with the ruins of the temple of Apollo where the healing waters are said to cure everything from heart problems to rheumatism.
Tour, transport and lunch about £17.

Dalyan – Caunus
When you arrive at Dalyan, a boat will take you to the famous mud baths to revive your skin and circulation, and then to a restaurant for lunch, followed by a visit and swim at the beach where the loggerhead turtles lay their eggs. High on the cliffs you will also see the magnificent carved Lycian tombs.
All fees, lunch and guide about £18

Village tour
Visit a typical Turkish village where you’re invited inside the mosque and the homes of the local people, where you can watch the women making carpets the way they have done for thousands of years. A traditional Turkish lunch is also included. Cost around £4.
